The Lightweightingatlas (Germ: Leichtbauatlas) is an interactive portal that showcases lightweighting expertise across Germany and Europe, encompassing all materials, technologies, and industries. Organizations, including companies, universities, research institutions, and associations, can present their processes and activities related to lightweighting on this platform. The portal is designed to be material- and technology-agnostic, as well as industry-neutral, providing a comprehensive overview of the lightweighting landscape.

Users can explore various features such as:

  • Organizations: Discover entities with technological competencies displayed on an interactive map.
  • Projects: Learn about initiatives from the Technology Transfer Program for Lightweight Construction (TTP LB).
  • Best Practices: Access successful examples and experiences from industry and research.

The platform offers extensive filtering options with around 250 criteria, allowing users to search specifically for partners or suppliers and to enhance their own visibility. Currently, nearly 700 organizations are registered, including more than 250 SMEs and over 100 large companies. The tool is available in both German and English, facilitating broader accessibility.

The Lightweightingatlas was initiated by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy to promote collaboration and innovation within the lightweight design community. It serves as a valuable resource for identifying potential partners, understanding the landscape of lightweight construction, and staying informed about ongoing projects and best practices in the field.
